  • Partnership Mode™ - Different engagement levels for each partner
  • One-Tap Split - End the "who paid for what" confusion
  • Weekly Money Date™ - 7-minute check-ins that actually work
  • Threshold Agreement™ - Set spending limits without the awkwardness
  • Couple Sync™ - Real-time updates, zero lag

Every Budgeting App Fails Couples.
Here's Why.

😤

"The Budget Person vs Everyone Else"

One of you wants to track every penny. The other just wants to live. Every app assumes you're both equally obsessed with budgeting. You're not. One person does all the work. The other feels nagged.

Sound familiar?

😬

"The Silent Judgment Machine"

You buy a $6 coffee. Your partner sees it. Now you feel like you need to explain yourself. Every purchase becomes visible. What was supposed to be transparency turned into anxiety and defensiveness.

Budgeting apps don't build trust. They build resentment.

🤷

"The All-or-Nothing Trap"

You want to share rent and groceries but keep date nights personal. Every app makes you choose: share EVERYTHING or share NOTHING. There's no middle ground.

But that's not how real couples handle money.

How Planzo Is Different

We spent 4 months researching how real couples manage money. We talked to hundreds of people. And we built something that actually works for how you live.

👥

Partnership Mode™

Choose Your Engagement Level

Solo user who wants full control? Manager Mode gives you everything. Budgeting with a partner where one loves details and the other doesn't? Each chooses their mode. Just want monthly summaries? Awareness Mode.

The mode system works whether you're solo or coupled:

  • Manager Mode - Full access, all the data
  • Participant Mode - Simplified tracking
  • Awareness Mode - Monthly summaries only

For couples: Each partner chooses independently. For individuals: Pick what fits your style.

Partnership Mode showing Manager Mode with detailed budget ($2,847 with $234 saved) and recent transactions including Whole Foods groceries and Electric Bill, compared to Participant Mode with simplified 'Looking Good!' message showing $234 under budget
🧾

One-Tap Split

End the "Who Paid for What" Confusion (For Couples)

When you add a partner, splitting expenses is one tap. No math, no awkward conversations.

  • Split 50/50 or custom percentages
  • Running balance automatically tracked
  • "Settle Up" whenever you're ready
  • No mental scorekeeping needed

Solo users: This feature activates when you invite someone. Until then, all your budgeting tools work perfectly without it.

One-Tap Split screen showing Whole Foods grocery transaction for $84.50 with options to select who paid (Me or Sam), split method including 50/50 Equal Split ($42.25 each), 60/40 Proportional split, or Custom manual entry, with clear indication that you will owe Sam $42.25
📅

Weekly Money Date™

7-Minute Check-Ins That Actually Work

Solo: Weekly reminder to review your spending and budget status.
Coupled: Both partners review together, settle splits, plan ahead.

What you'll review:

  • This week's spending
  • Pending settlements (couples only)
  • Upcoming bills
  • Budget status

Average time: 7 minutes. Same feature, adapts to your situation.

Weekly Money Date progress screen scheduled for Sunday Feb 9 at 10:00 AM, showing 75% complete with 7 minutes estimated time, displaying This Week's Spending at $847 under budget with green checkmark, Pending Settlements marked as all clear, Upcoming Bills showing $341 due this week, and Budget Status to review together with 5 minutes remaining
💵

Threshold Agreement™

Set It Once, Never Argue Again (For Couples)

Sit down together. Agree on a number. Let's say $100.

  • Purchases under $100? Buy it. No discussion needed.
  • Purchases over $100? Talk first.

The app reminds you when you're about to cross the threshold. No judgment. No surprises. Just clarity.

Solo users: This feature is couple-specific and activates when you add a partner.

Threshold Agreement screen showing Add Purchase interface with $145 purchase amount triggering Above Threshold warning, displaying exclamation icon and message that individual spending limit is $100 with suggestion to consider discussing purchase with partner, includes visual slider showing $0 to $145 range with $100 limit marker, and options to Save Draft or Confirm purchase

Works Perfectly Solo Too

Not in a relationship? No problem. Every feature works beautifully for individual users.

Why Solo Users Choose Planzo

  • No overwhelming feature bloat - Looking at you, YNAB. We keep it simple.
  • Choose your engagement level - Manager/Participant/Awareness modes work solo too

  • Clean, focused interface - No couple-specific UI cluttering your view
  • Add a partner later - If your situation changes, seamless upgrade

"I tried six budgeting apps. They all felt like work. Planzo feels... easy. I'm in Manager Mode and see everything I need without the clutter."

Why We're Building This

We downloaded seven budgeting apps together.

We quit all seven.

They were built for individuals. We're a couple. One of us is a budget nerd who wants to track every dollar. The other just wants to know if we can afford that weekend trip.

Every app forced us into the same mold: either we both obsess over budgeting, or neither of us does.

So we started researching. We interviewed hundreds of couples. We launched a podcast about money and relationships. And we discovered something important:

The apps weren't failing because couples are bad at budgeting. The apps were failing because they were never designed for couples in the first place.

So we're building Planzo. Not for everyone. For couples who:

  • Want to manage money together without losing independence
  • Have different approaches to budgeting (nerd + free spirit)
  • Are tired of fighting about $6 coffees
  • Want a system that works for how they actually live

We're building this in public. Sharing our progress. Learning from couples like you. And creating something that doesn't exist yet: a budgeting app that actually gets how relationships work.

Frequently Asked Questions

When will Planzo be available? +
We're launching in March 2026. Waitlist members will get early access via email when we're ready. You'll be among the first to create your account and start using Planzo.
How does the "use immediately, pay later" work? +
When we launch, you'll create your account with no credit card required. You get 60 days of full access completely free. On day 55, we'll send a reminder email. On day 60, your first payment of $8.99 will be processed. You can cancel anytime before then with zero charges.
Why is early access pricing so much cheaper? +
We're rewarding couples who believe in Planzo before it's even built. Your feedback during the early months will help us make Planzo better for everyone. This $8.99/month price is locked in for life – even when we raise prices to $14.99/month later.
What makes Planzo different from other budgeting apps? +
Every other budgeting app was built for individuals, then adapted for couples. Planzo is the first app built from the ground up for couples. We support different engagement levels (one partner can be hands-on, the other hands-off), easy expense splitting, and regular check-ins that take 7 minutes instead of creating conflict.
Do both partners need to be equally involved? +
No! That's the whole point of Partnership Mode™. One partner can use Manager Mode (full access to all data), while the other uses Participant Mode (simplified tracking) or Awareness Mode (monthly summaries only). Each partner chooses their own level of involvement.
Is my financial data secure? +
Absolutely. We use bank-level 256-bit encryption, and we never store your banking credentials. We partner with Plaid for secure bank connections, and all data is encrypted both in transit and at rest.
Can I cancel anytime? +
Yes. Cancel anytime with one click. No long-term contracts, no cancellation fees. Your data will remain accessible for 30 days after cancellation in case you change your mind.
Can I use Planzo as an individual (not a couple)? +
Absolutely. Every feature works beautifully for solo users. The modes (Manager/Participant/Awareness) aren't just for couples—they're for anyone who wants to choose their engagement level. You can use Planzo solo forever, or invite a partner later if your situation changes. Your data and pricing carry over seamlessly.
Is there different pricing for individuals vs couples? +
Early Access Pricing:
• Individual: $8.99/month (locked in for life)
• Couple: $8.99/month for BOTH partners (better value)

So couples get two people for the price of one, but individuals still get the same great early access rate. If you start solo and add a partner later, you just upgrade to the couple plan—no price increase for you.
What happens if I start solo and then add a partner? +
Super easy! Just send them an invite link from Settings. They create their account, choose their mode, and you're linked. All your existing data stays yours. You choose what to share going forward. Pricing automatically adjusts to the couple rate ($8.99/month total for both of you). No migration headaches, no data loss.
What if we break up? 😬 +
We've thought through the hard scenarios. Each partner can export their data and continue using Planzo solo if they want. You can also unlink accounts with one click. All your personal transactions remain yours, and you can transition back to an individual plan seamlessly. We make the financial separation as painless as possible.
What happens after I join the waitlist? +
You'll receive a welcome email with your waitlist position and early access pricing details. We'll send bi-weekly updates on our building progress, and you'll get access to our Discord community where you can connect with other couples and give us feedback on features.
